How Do I Initiate Video Calls?

These steps outline how to initiate a video call with your buddy list:

Initiating a Video Call with Buddy List

  1. Click the Buddy List that appears on the lower right hand side corner of the Convergence window. The Messenger buddy list appears.
  2. Select an online buddy with a green (online) status.
  3. Double-click the buddy so that the chat message box opens.
  4. From the row of icons (chat, phone, video, share screen, and transfer call) on the top right corner of the chat message box, click the phone.
Your web browser might display a message requesting permission to share your microphone with the Convergence server. Allow the server to share your microphone.
  5. Your buddy receives a pop-up invitation with your video call request that your buddy can accept or reject. Your buddy should accept the invitation to begin the call.
  6. If your buddy declines your call, you might either see a message that your buddy has declined the call or that your buddy is busy.
  7. Move the volume bar to the desired volume.
  8. Click the pause icon to put a call on hold. You can initiate a video call with another buddy when you put the first call on hold. See: How Do I Place a Voice or Video Call on Hold? To resume the call, click the resume icon.
  9. Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute the calls.
  10. To end the call, click the hang up icon (red phone).
