How Do I Initiate a Multi-party Voice Call?

A multi-party voice call allows you to connect to more than one buddy in a voice call.

Initiating a Multi-party Voice Call with Buddy List

  1. Click the Buddy List that appears on the lower right hand side corner of the Convergence window. The Messenger buddy list appears.
  2. Select an online buddy with a green (online) status.
  3. Double-click the buddy so that the chat message box opens.
  4. To add a buddy to the call, click the double arrow icon under the chat, phone, video, share screen, and transfer call icons.
  5. You can add a buddy at any time during the call.  Note - You can add up to 5 buddies to the call.
  6. From the row of icons (chat, phone, video, share screen, and transfer call) on the top right corner of the chat message box, click the phone icon.
  7. Your web browser might display a message requesting permission to share your microphone with the Convergence server. Allow the server to share your microphone.
  8. Your buddies receive a pop-up invitation with your voice call request that they can accept or reject. They should accept the invitation to be included on the call.
  9. If any of your  buddies decline your call, you might either see a message that your buddy has declined the call or that your buddy is busy.
  10. The chat message box changes to a group chat box.
  11. Move the volume bar to the desired volume.
  12. Click the pause icon to put a call on hold. You can initiate a voice call with another buddy when you put the multi-party voice call on hold.  See: How Do I Put a Voice or Video Call on Hold?  While they are on hold, the buddies can continue the voice call.
  13. To resume the call, click the Resume icon.
  14. Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute the calls.
  15. You can also share your screen with your buddies.  See: How Do I Share My Screen?
  16. If buddies exit the call, it is not disconnected until you (as the initiator of the call) end the call.
  17. To end the call, click the hang up icon (red phone).
